Salsa de Aguacate – A Fresh Spin on Guacamole Salsa

A Creamy, Zesty Twist on Classic Salsa Verde

I love finding fresh ways to elevate classic flavors, and one of my favorite go-to recipes lately is Salsa de Aguacate, also known as Guacamole Salsa. This creamy, zesty sauce has all the bright flavors of traditional salsa verde, but with a smooth avocado twist that takes it to another level!

A quick shoutout to my good friend, Chef Everardo Hernandez from La Herencia El Camacho in the Lehigh Valley, PA, for introducing me to his spin on this salsa. Everardo’s kitchen is all about keeping Mexican flavors vibrant and fresh, and his recipe inspired this version that I now can’t stop making!

Recipe: Salsa de Aguacate (Guacamole Salsa)

Ingredients:

  • 3 large tomatillos, husked and rinsed
  • 1-2 jalapeños, depending on your heat preference
  • ½ white onion
  • 2-3 Key limes (or 1 large lime)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • A generous handful of cilantro
  • 1 large ripe avocado
  • Kosher salt to taste

Instructions:

1. Blend the base:
Start by blending the tomatillos, jalapeños, white onion, garlic, lime juice, and cilantro. This is where the magic begins! I like to blend until everything is super smooth so that the flavors are really well combined.

2. Add the avocado: Now, here’s the twist! Add in the avocado and pulse until the mixture is smooth and creamy. The avocado gives the salsa that rich, velvety texture that just makes you want to dip everything into it.

3. Season to taste: Finally, add salt to taste. A good pinch or two should do the trick, but you can adjust to your liking.

And that’s it—so simple but ridiculously good! This Salsa de Aguacate is perfect for drizzling over tacos, serving with chips, or even as a topping for grilled chicken or steak. I guarantee this salsa will be your new favorite go-to condiment for just about everything.

Huge thanks again to Chef Everardo for sharing his take on this salsa—every time I make it, I think of the amazing flavors coming out of La Herencia El Camacho and the magic of fresh ingredients.

Give it a try and let me know how you like to serve it. Trust me, once you start dipping, you won’t want to stop!
