As if that's not enough, we’ve paired these crispy delights with a luscious Creamy Garlic Parmesan Dip. Get ready to experience the perfect harmony of flavors and textures!
Ingredients:
For the Butternut Squash Fries:
- 1 medium-sized butternut squash, peeled, seeded, and cut into thin fries
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
For the Creamy Garlic Parmesan Dip:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt to save calories)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Sea salt to taste
- Fresh chives, finely chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
For the Butternut Squash Fries (Oven-Baked and Air Fryer):
Proper Cutting for Even Cooking:
- Cut the butternut squash into uniform planks to ensure even cooking. This step ensures that all your fries cook at the same rate, giving you a consistent texture.
Even Coating is Key:
- In a large bowl, toss the butternut squash fries with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper until every plank is evenly coated. An even coating guarantees that each fry will be flavorful and crispy.
Avoid Crowding for Crispy Perfection:
- Whether baking or air frying, avoid overcrowding the fries on the baking sheet or in the air fryer basket. Crowding can lead to steaming instead of proper crisping. For best results, spread the fries out in a single layer, allowing them space to crisp up nicely.
Perfect Baking and Air Frying:
- Oven-Baked Fries: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Air Fryer Fries: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the fries are crispy and golden brown.
For the Creamy Garlic Parmesan Dip:
Prepare the Sauce:
- In a small mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, lemon juice, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Stir well until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
Taste and Adjust:
- Adjust the seasoning according to your preference. Add more garlic for a stronger flavor or extra lemon juice for tanginess. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
Chill the Sauce:
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
Serve and Enjoy: Now comes the best part - serving and savoring your creation! Arrange the hot and crispy Butternut Squash Fries on a platter, garnish with fresh parsley, and place the Creamy Garlic Parmesan Dip in the center. Dip, munch, and repeat! Whether you prefer the classic baked version or the quick air-fried option, these fries are bound to be a hit at any gathering.
